If you are a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), you can apply for ACCA membership through the following route:


Step 1: Register for the ACCA Qualification

To begin your journey, you must first register for the ACCA Qualification.


As part of the registration process, you will be required to submit an MIA membership certificate, letter of good standing plus other identifications, and qualification documents, together with a registration code. Please ensure you enter the correct code based on your status with MIA:

 

  • Members - MIA

 

Step 2: Receive Your Exemptions

Once your application and MIA document have been reviewed and approved, you will be awarded exemptions from the following levels of the ACCA Qualification:

 

  • Applied Knowledge Level

  • Applied Skills Level

 

These exemptions reflect and recognise your professional achievements with MIA. 

 

Step 3: Complete the Remaining ACCA Exam Requirements

To progress towards ACCA membership, you must complete the following Strategic Professional Level requirements:

 

  • Mandatory Exams (you must complete both):

    • Strategic Business Leader (SBL)

    • Strategic Business Reporting (SBR)

 

  • Optional Exam (choose one):

    • Advanced Financial Management (AFM)

    • Advanced Performance Management (APM)

    • Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA) 

 

Ethics Requirement 

You must also complete the Ethics and Professional Skills Module (EPSM).


This module develops your ethical decision-making and professional skills, preparing you for membership.

 

Step 4: Apply for Direct Admission to ACCA Membership

Once you have successfully completed all the above requirements, you can submit your Membership Application to ACCA membership.

 

Supporting Documentation Required for Your Application

As part of your application, you will need to provide a Letter of Good Standing from MIA. This letter must confirm that:

 

  • You are currently a member in good standing with MIA.

  • Your membership status is active and compliant with MIA’s professional requirements.
