Exemptions refer to the papers/exams that you may not need to sit based on your prior learning, helping you start at the right level.

If you have a relevant academic or professional qualification, you may not need to take all of the exams and can be exempted from some of them. This means you can progress quickly, building on what you already know.

Papers that can be exempted
Exemptions from the ACCA Qualification are available from the following exam levels below:

  • Applied Knowledge

  • Applied Skills

No exemptions are granted from the Strategic Professional level. You'll need to sit and pass these exams with ACCA.

Exemptions based on work experience
There are no exam exemptions available based on work experience for the ACCA Qualification.

Exemptions based on relevant work experience can be claimed for the introductory and intermediate exams at the Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) level. These would be applied for at the same time as applying for Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) status.

Conditional exemptions
Conditional exemptions may be available if you are studying towards an ACCA accredited course.
